Philadelphia 76ers vs Toronto Raptors Match Preview
As the Philadelphia 76ers were supposed to be a team off to a very quick start this season, their biggest offseason addition Paul George is ruled out with injury. Given that he could miss a couple of weeks, this could be tough for a team competing for a championship as they are already missing Joel Embiid too. Now that Tyrese Maxsey, 25 points with 6 assists, has to carry a huge load on offense, his athletic driving abilities and shooting from the perimeter will be key. With Kelly Obrue Jr., 21 points, still being the starting shooting guard, his development as a mid-range scorer has helped the 76ers score a lot of points even if they are missing stars. Andre Drummond, 10 points and 13 rebounds against Milwaukee has been a solid Embiid replacement, but the biggest issue with him is his ability to have production on offense outside of put-backs. As Caleb Martin, 12 points with 9 rebounds, turned out to be a good rim protector that the 76ers were hoping for, he will try to help Guercschon Yabusele, 10 points in the opening game, play a scoring role that he helped France with during Summer Olympics. Although Philadelphia won’t reach the top levels without their stars, these players could continue putting in their best under Nick Nurse till the time everyone comes back.
For the Raptors, injuries have been a key issue as shown through their lack of scoring against the Cavaliers in a 30-point loss. Even though Scottie Barnes was available for this game, it showed that without RJ Barrett or Bruce Brown Jr. healthy, his offense takes a huge dip. After just scoring 6 points and struggling on the defensive end in his opener, Toronto expects to get one of them back within a week so Barnes can get back into scoring form on one on ones. As Ochai Agbaji, 3 points, showed that he couldn’t fill in, the 6 rebounds proved that his role on the glass will still be vital. With Jakob Poetel underneath, with 9 rebounds, this could be one of the top rebounding units as they already had Scottie Barnes averaging 8.2 rebounds last season. One big positive was the development of Grady Dick, 16 points, as he showed to be a big-time scorer and support the extremely athletic guard Immanuel Quickley, 13 points with 4 assists, to being a key backcourt duo. If they get all the players back in time and their backcourt plays at a little higher level, the Raptors could very well be a play-in team.

Philadelphia 76ers vs Toronto Raptors Betting Tips
Total Match Points at Over 219.5: As both these units come in without some of their top scorers on each side, this game will be a lot lower scoring than originally anticipated. These squads scored 255 points in their last matchup, but after 2 of the 3 top scorers are out in this matchup, there will be a lot more defense.
Total points at halftime Over 109.5: With the 76ers being right in the middle last season averaging 57.1 points per 1st half, they go up against a Raptors team that was bottom 10 in this category. Even though their last game had over 120 points, that was at a time when the Raptors were in desperate urge of playoff positioning and the 76ers didn’t lose a lot of pieces after acquiring Paul George.
76ers score over 104 points: As the Philadelphia offense will still be somewhat good after losing two key pieces, they have always managed to hit over 113 points against Toronto. Having seen this 5 times in a row, the 76ers might not hit that mark because of their deficiencies but could end up hovering around a number like that.
Philadelphia 76ers vs Toronto Raptors Match Prediction
In one of the most injury-prone matchups around the league so far, the championship-contending Philadelphia 76ers go head-to-head with a Raptors squad that hopes for growth. During their last 5 matchups, the 76ers have owned it and won all of them while always having great concentration on both ends. Even though Tyrese Maxsey doesn’t have his big-body in Joel Embiid manning the middle, his abilities to drive and pass is something Immanuel Quickley will have a tough time guarding on the Raptors. Having someone like Andre Drummond who is known to rebound, will control the glass against Jakob Poeltl as his game seems to have grown from what was seen 2 seasons ago. Although Guerchson Yabusele will have a tough night with Scottie Barnes switching on him, Caleb Martin will be there to help on the switch against a much weaker offensive and defensive player in Ochai Agbaji. With veteran presences like Eric Gordon and Kyle Lowry on the 76ers, Toronto will only have a shot to win this game if Gradey Dick can put on a star-like performance and get Agbaji involved.
Our Prediction- Philadelphia 76ers to Win!
