Detroit Pistons vs Cleveland Cavaliers Match Preview

As the Pistons entered this season trying to improve upon their historically bad last 3 seasons, this season has started at a much better pace. Having played a very competitive game against a top team like the Pacers, J.B. Bickerstaff has turned this squad into one of the more underrated ones. Led by Cade Cunningham, 28 points and 8 assists in the opener, he has developed into a high-profile scoring guard that the Pistons have been hoping for a while. Seeing the constant development of Jalen Duren, 13 points with 13 rebounds, will help this Detroit squad have someone who can be a force in the paint on both ends. With Jaden Ivey scoring 17 points, he has helped develop that backcourt foundation many previous coaches like Monty Williams once wanted. With Malik Beasley, 14 points, being a key presence on the bench, his ability to shoot long-range shots still poses an important threat. As Tobias Harris, 13 points, and Tim Hardway Jr., 14 points against Indiana, have become great forwards, they are trying to work in Ron Holland to be a key component of this young roster.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers are led by Donovan Mitchell, 21 points and 3 steals, as one of the most athletic two-way guards in the league. He was a key reason why the Cavs are such contenders and dominated the Raptors on Thursday, giving a real star to make them go far. With a two-man duo in the middle that includes Jarett Allen, 14 points with 7 rebounds, and a much-improved scorer named Evan Mobley, 25 points plus 8 boards, to create a massive mismatch over other defenses. Although Darius Garland had scored 7 points in the backcourt, his 6 assists showed that the connection between him and Mobley is growing after a couple of years of struggles. Dean Wade, with 8 rebounds against the Raptors, had a very strong rim presence as he also created tons of block opportunities on the other end. If Caris LeVert can keep providing off the bench, this is a tough team to reckon with as they are waiting for Max Strus’s return too.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons Betting Tips

Total Match Points Over 224.5- With the Cavaliers having a very high-scoring offense, the development of the Detroit Pistons will allow this to become a game that has a lot of points. Even though their combined score last time was 210, the Pistons have a much better offense and Evan Mobley’s development as a shooter will add more.

Total Points in the First Half Over 112.5- As the Pistons scored 53.5 points in the 1st half last season, they have put a major emphasis on that, while Cleveland was middle of the pack with 57.0 points per game. Since both have grown a lot in first-half scoring, it will cross the 110 mark from the last time when these squads played.

Cavs Score Over 110 Points During Whole Game- With Cleveland being able to play as a Pistons defense that is still learning their role, the Cavs will show a lot of promise on offense once again. In the last 6 matchups against Detroit, the Cavs have scored lower than 110 once at 108.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons Match Prediction

As the Cavaliers have won 6 straight games against the Pistons, this will be a great year to continue their streak and prove that they can get past these trap teams to make it past 2nd round play. With Donovan Mitchell having a great matchup against Cade Cunningham, both of their abilities to shoot from deep and drive in will play a huge factor. As Cunningham’s defense has taken a huge step forward, this will be one of the key matchups to see who wins. As Jalen Duren can control Jarrett Allen in the paint as Cleveland’s true center, the issue is Tobias Harris is going to have a weaker game against someone who is no longer in Evan Mobley. With Garland having the elite passing ability to either find Mobley or Isaac Okoro over Ron Holland, this will change this game a lot more. Since Cleveland also has a very deep bench led by Caris LeVert and Dean Wade, the only way Detroit could come on top is if Tim Hardway Jr. can outplay some of their bench members.

Our Prediction- Cleveland Cavaliers to Win
