Mohamed Salah broke a Premier League scoring record in Liverpool's opening game of the season.
By netting Liverpool's second in the 2-0 win over Ipswich on Saturday, the Egyptian took his goals tally in the opening round of a Premier League season to nine.
Salah previously shared the record of eight goals with Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer.
The 32-year-old Salah joined Liverpool in 2017.
And he has been their Lone Warrior since then. Liverpool has concerns over Salah’s stay at the club after their former coach, Jurgen Klopp, waves goodbyes to Liverpool.
But the new seasons don’t change Mohammed Salah's goal-scoring form. He scored on and also assisted their opening goal against Ipswich.
Newly promoted Ipswich held the fort for the first half but couldn’t hold it in the second half.
On his 350th appearance for Liverpool, Salah broke a record he shared with Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer by scoring in the opening game for a ninth time.
Mohammed Salah also pens his name in the golden letters in Liverpool History. In his 350th Appearance for the club in all competitions, he registered his 300th Goal involvement for the club.
He has now scored 212 goals and 88 assists for the club in all competitions.
Liverpool 2 – 0 Ipswich
Full-time Reaction:
Speaking about the performace
“Hopefully, I’ll keep going like this through the whole season, not just the first game. I try to help the team all the time. The most important thing is that the team wins the game.
“I’m always happy to score goals and to give assists, so I just need to carry on.”
Salah praises their new man in Charge, Arne Slot
“It’s quite different because Jurgen was in [charge] of the team for eight years here at Liverpool,” Salah told TNT Sports, having played his first Liverpool match without the manager who signed him in June 2017.
“He gave everything, and now there is a new manager and a new system. It’s quite different for all of us, so we need to adapt. We just take it step by step because some players also came back late [for pre-season], so we just need to know his way of playing and to enjoy the football.
“We don’t need to put more pressure on him. We just need to play football and enjoy our games, and let’s see in the end.”
