The first major derby of the Premier League season takes place between Manchester United and Liverpool this weekend. Arne Slot and his Liverpool team will visit Old Trafford after claiming back-to-back 2-0 wins.

This fixture will be the first proper test for Arne Slot and it will be an indicator that the honeymoon period is over. Slot became the first Liverpool manager in the Premier League era since Graeme Souness in April 1991, to win his first two league fixtures in charge.

Michael Owen – Former Liverpool & Manchester United player, heaved praise on Arne Slot

"I don't think you can lose any games at the start of a season anymore. You have to be almost faultless. You can't give anybody a lead. Liverpool started the season well but Arsenal and Manchester City started equally as well. They look at the top of their game. It could be the hardest league to win in a long, long time."

"I've been really impressed with Slot," Owen added. "He looks assured. Two comfortable wins, two clean sheets. I've stopped thinking about it [Klopp leaving] already. I'm calm about it. This guy knows what he's doing."

Slot encouraged by winning back-to-back games

"Yes, it is [encouraging]. Two good wins against difficult opponents because Brentford had a very good opening game last week," he said.

"But there is still a lot for us to prove in the season coming up because I said it a few times already, both of the teams, Ipswich and Brentford, deserve our respect for the way they have played against us, but I am not expecting one of the two [to be] in the top six in the upcoming season. So there is still a lot to prove for us. But it is always good to start off with two wins and two clean sheets."

The Premier League fixture list has brought the biggest game of English Football on viewing for the fans early as both sides are eager to make a statement early on in the season. Liverpool will face Manchester United. The fiercest Rivalry in English Football on Sunday, 1st September at Old Trafford.
