Transfer Deadline Day Transfer Deadline Day

Transfer Deadline Day saw some surprising movement in the English Transfer Market.

Chelsea offloaded Raheem Sterling to Arsenal on loan and was set to replace him in its bloated squad.

The England international travelled to Arsenal’s London Colney training ground on Friday evening to complete his medical and finalise the transfer.

The 29-year-old attacker will spend the 2024-25 campaign at the Emirates Stadium having been told he has no future at Stamford Bridge under new head coach Enzo Maresca.

The deal for Sterling was announced after the market officially shut in Britain at 2200 GMT (11 p.m. local time), with the Premier League giving the clubs extra time to complete the transactions.

Chelsea failed, however, in its reported last-ditch attempt to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who had been linked all day with a move to either Stamford Bridge or the Saudi Pro League but looked set to stay in Italy against his will.

Raheem’s individual honours include being named FWA Footballer of the Year in 2018/19, and he was voted into the PFA’s Team of the Year at the end of the same season.

Raheem began his youth career at QPR before moving to Liverpool’s academy. He went on to establish himself as a first-team player, making his senior debut in 2012 and earning his first England cap the same year.

Jadon Sancho moves to Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan

However, Chelsea has signed likewise replacement for Raheem Sterling,

Jadon Sancho has moved to Chelsea with the Manchester United winger signed on an initial season-long loan deal with an obligation to buy the England international. Sancho is expected to become the club's 13th signing of the summer transfer window.

Sancho scored 12 goals and contributed six assists in 83 games for United since signing from Dortmund for £73 million three years ago.

Sancho - who has 23 caps for England - fell out of favour at United last season after a public disagreement with Ten Hag.
